The driver

Jacob Gustafson, AKA "Gusty"
Age: 23 Date of birth: Dec. 21, 2000 Hometown: Webster, NY

Background

At the young age of 8 years old, Jacob dreamed of becoming a race car driver. He was given the opportunity when his dad bought him a Microd (similar to a quarter midget). In 2010, Jacob began racing Microds at the Sodus Microd Club in Sodus, New York. In his first year of racing, Jacob won his first championship in the Jr. Novice Microd class. Jacob continued to race microds for 5 more years, scoring 30 plus feature wins and another championship. Wanting to pursue the dream of racing, JFG Motorsports purchased a 1992 Honda Prelude 4-cylinder race car. At the age of 14 years old, Gusty competed in his first professional race at Wyoming County International Speedway, finishing 13th in the 2015 Fall Shoot-out. The next season, Jacob would race his first full season of racing and get his first professional racing win at Adirondack International Speedway. A year later, he would win his first professional season championship at Chemung Speedrome. In 2018, Jacob began touring with the National Compact Touring Series, as well as select races outside of his home state. In 2019, Jacob was offered to drive Tom Brinser's Super Stock race car. Gusty's first race was at Evans Mills Raceway Park, finishing 14th. In 2020, Jacob would win his first out of state touring series championship with the National Compact Touring Series. A year after that, Jacob would win his first race in a Super Stock at Evans Mills Raceway Park. The same year, 2021, JFG Motorsports acquired a 1980 Chevy Monte Carlo Street Stock race car. He would race with the car in the street stock class at Lancaster Motorplex in 2022 and win rookie of the year. The next year, Gusty gets his first street stock win in the first race of the season. He would win more races with Tom's Super Stock and the team's Street Stock before moving up into the Pro Late Model division in 2024. In Gusty's second start in a Pro Late Model, he would win his first race at Holland Speedway. He would continue to complete the Race of Champions schedule and win Rookie of the Year and Most Popular Driver. Overall, Jacob has competed in more than 200 races and raced at over 30 different race tracks. Some of those tracks include Bristol Motor Speedway, Richmond Raceway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Nashville Speedway Fairground, The Freedom Factory, and many others. Jacob has won over 45 feature races total and won at over 10 different tracks. Gusty has won 5 total championships, 3 of those being touring series championships.
